The Mission

To deliver music tuition, mentoring and emotional support for school aged children (4-17 years old) in isolated, disadvantaged or under privileged areas who would not normally have access to music sessions or instruments.

Our story

The Grass Roots Music Foundation Ltd started as Boonderu in 2015 and changed its name in 2023. The Grass Roots Music Foundation Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation delivering mentoring and support via music since 2015, for school students who would not normally be able to access music tuition. Our music program is student-centred, trauma informed and responsive to the unique learning needs and styles of our students.

The Vision

For every child to have access to music and musical instruments and its healing powers, regardless of location, race or academic ability.

The Grass Roots Music Foundation Consumer Survey

In November 2021, The Grass Roots Music Foundation Ltd sought feedback (as part of an internal quality assurance and evaluation program) from staff working at schools where the program had been operating. Some schools had students participating in the music program for only six months, while other schools had been receiving the The Grass Roots Music Foundation program for many years.

The Grass Roots Music Foundation Consumer Survey 2021 was commissioned by The Grass Roots Music Foundation Ltd and carried out in consultation with Dr Cath Price in accordance with the NHMRC’s Ethical considerations in quality assurance and evaluation activities.
